17,390 Novena Bookmarks

Mama saw other parishioners leave copies of novenas in the Adoration Chapel. She saw that these novenas helped other people, and she wanted to contribute as well. We printed the Prayers to The Sacred Heart of Jesus in a layout of 8 to 10 per page. This prinout was then photocopied to make more batches.
The prayers were cut and pasted on slips of colorful contruction boards. A hole is punched at the top of each board, with a yarn looped in. And that is how she made the novena bookmark. The prayers used were the same.

Mama left the novenas in the Adoration Chapel at Immaculate Conception Parish. Her co-parents and friends asked for copies that they could also leave at their own parishes. All in all, 17,390 novena bookmarks were made by Mama. 💐

When Mama was in grade school, she started visiting a religious shop called Catholic Trade, located in Tayuman. In third grade, she bought picture frames with religious images, including this one here. This is Mama's favorite image of our Lord Jesus. The other ones were St. Joseph and baby Jesus, and Mama Mary. The picture frames were brittle plastic and eventually disintegrated. Mama was able to keep this image.
Stampitas were popular gifts back in the 60s/70s. Mama collected the ones she received. The papers were old, only a few of the stampitas remain in our home.
