Inner Courtyard

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for The Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

I hold onto promises like a child, but I am also impatient. It's a fatal combination especially when faced with seemingly never-ending plot twists. So many lessons. So many things to be grateful for.

Weekend came at 10AM.

Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily). I should visit the courtyard more often and the maybe I would chance upon flowers.

Epipremnum aureum (Golden Pothos). We used to have this in the house, sitting in a small jar with water.

I was alone in the courtyard. It was sunny but not too sunny. It was so peaceful. I took my time marveling at God's creatures. Have you ever been hyper-aware of a miracle unravelling right before your eyes?

I thought of these plants and trees as my portrait models. How do I present their best selves?

Tabernaemontana pandacaqui (Windmill bush)

I did my best to identify the plants. I am not sure if I got all of them correctly. 🙏

Ichigo ichie. I have never been as present as I was this morning.

Schefflera arboricola (Dwarf Umbrella Tree)

Dracaena reflexa 'Variegata' (Variegated Song of India)

This one's funny! It's also called many other names like Cuban oregano and Spanish thyme! 🤣

Plumeria (Frangipani or Kalachuchi) is my one of my favorite trees. I used to see fully-grown Kalachuchis in our university. I can't wait for these to finally mature and spread their branches like beautiful canopies!

I had to search online to know the name of this small tree. I was not able to recognize it as a Kalachuchi immediately. Just like this tree, God nurtures me and guides me into becoming the best version of myself. I am still a work-in-progress, but I have come a long way now. I don't need to look far to see miracles.

Excoecaria cochinchinensis (Picara). The top is green, but the bottom part is blood red. I used to see them around Ortigas much like the pothos and windmill bush

Sansevieria. This looks very much like Mama's Earth Star. Probably a close relative.

Some plants have dry leaves like this. I got tempted to pluck them 🤣

Osmoxylon lineare (Miagos or Green Aralia) is endemic to the Philippines.
